Self care Sunday!!

We’ve been told that self care is getting a mani, indulging in a bubble bath or buying a book that we’ve had our eye on. But it’s also: setting boundaries, making sure we’re nourished, hydrated and taken care of.

This week is a busy week for me. I have a few papers that are due, a graduating daughter to support 🎓, my day job and this business to run. So what does self care look like for me? Making sure my pill container is filled so I remember to take my meds, and my snack bins are refilled with both protein dense snacks and chocolate. We have to take care of ourselves so we can take care of others.

Happy Pride! This is your friendly reminder that the first pride was a riot and beware of rainbow washing. It’s great to wave a rainbow flag, but what are you doing July 1st thorough May 31st?

For me, this photo is a prime example of rainbow washing. It’s from a Bath and Body Works Store, of their Pride display. It was taken in Florida. Florida is one state that is leading the country in anti-queer legislation. With all the legislation in the state, it just feels token. Adding a rainbow to a product doesn’t make you an ally (nor does it create a “brave and bold path towards progress” like it states on their website). Doing the work, using your voice (and $7.9 billion net worth) to speak out and stop anti queer and anti trans legislation is what makes you that ally.

Love is love, but equal rights aren’t equal rights.

Well. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here

Well. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here! Sometimes between being a mom and being a doula social media gets left to the wayside. I’m still here! Finishing up the last weeks of this semester, planning a family road trip this Memorial Day and creating classes and content for y’all.

Here’s a pic of a beautiful placenta I had the honor of encapsulating. Being a doula is such an honor. I am forever thankful for the privilege that each family allows me.

I’m taking May off because of my family’s vacation, but I’m currently accepting clients for birth support for late summer and fall births.
