Salt Water Birth

Inclusive and full spectrum doula support for growing Maine families.

“Birth is my passion and supporting families is my calling.”

Hello! My name is Robin. I’m a student midwife and doula. I’ve been supporting families through their pregnancies and postpartum periods for over a decade. As a doula, I’ve supported birthing people as they give birth at home, in birth centers or at the hospital. No matter what my goal is always to help support and empower you to have the birth you want. My work is driven by a deep belief of providing everyone compassionate, inclusive care.

Home for me is coastal Maine where I live with my husband and kids. I have 4 children: 3 teens and 1 young adult,  all of whom I couldn’t be more proud of.  When I’m not at a birth you can probably find my at the lab at our local hospital where I work as an medical lab assistant and phlebotomist. Being a student midwife requires a lot of time for studying but it doesn’t prevent me from living a life full of joy. I love to be creative, and especially love to knit. I enjoy being outdoors, especially in my garden (preferably watching my chickens!). Of course I love to spend time with my family as well! Check out the epic road trip we took a few years back on Slawman.Rocks!

What I Offer :

A doula is a non-medical person that helps support you through your pregnancy, labor and delivery and into the postpartum period. People who have a doula  in labor have shorter, and definitely more manageable births. My role in your birth team is to help guide you through your pregnancy, support you during your birth and help you adjust during the postpartum period.

Placenta encapsulation is an honored tradition, which honors the placenta for the job that it did supporting your baby. Placenta pills are odorless and tasteless. They contain iron, vitamins, minerals and hormones like oxytocin and progesterone. People who take placenta pills after birth report less postpartum depression, quicker physical healing and improved lactation. Pills can be added on for “rough days” when extra support is needed.

Placenta encapsulation costs $350 and includes

  • Pick up of placenta at your place of birth.
  • Processing of your placenta in my dedicated work space.
  • Delivery of your placenta pills
  • Keepsake placenta print

Testimonials

I knew I could call Robin day or night and she’d listen and answer my questions no matter how silly I thought they might be.”  -KZ

“I used Robin for my birth. She was magnificent and I highly recommend her. She was amazing, had a wonderful personality and beautiful energy. I just really feel the need to spread the word because pregnancy is overwhelming and I want to make it easier for people to find a GREAT doula!” -EW
